OUR MISSION IS TO; - To safeguard the health of the Belizean people, promoting the availablity of wholesome foods free of pesticide residue; - To safeguard the environment, providing from the adverse effects of pesticides; - To assist in economic development, enhancing the quality of agricultural production; BY PROVIDING COMPREHENSIVE CONTROL IN ALL ASPECTS OF PESTICIDE MANAGEMENT. ----------------------------- Pesticides Control in Belize Pesticides Control in Belize is governed by the Pesticides Control Act, Chapter 181B of the Laws of Belize, and its enabling regulations. The Pesticides Control Board is the statutory body responsible for the implementation of the provisions of the Pesticides Control Act. Members of the Pesticides Control Board are appointed by the Minister of Agriculture and serve for a period of two years, representing all major sectors interested in the issue of pesticides and pesticides control, such as the Ministries of Agriculture, Health and the Environment, agricultural producers, Non-governmental organizations, and the pesticide industry. The Pesticides Control Board meets quarterly, while its working Committees meet monthly or as necessary. |
